The long-awaited list of occupations in demand has finally arrived!
A decree establishing the list of occupations in demand by geographical department was released on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Its objective is to categorize jobs based on recruitment difficulties. In accordance with Article L. 414-13 of the CESEDA, which repeals the decree of April 1, 2021, the text allows for the issuance of work permits to foreigners who are not nationals of a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, without opposition based on the employment situation.
Occupations facing shortages, such as nurses, those in the restaurant industry (cooks, etc.), hospitality, food professions (butchers, bakers, pastry chefs, etc.), agri-food, domestic workers, hairdressers and beauticians, gardeners, laborers (skilled or unskilled), construction trades (masons, roofers, etc.), and many other professions have finally been taken into account.
Don’t forget the lists of occupations in demand included in agreements with Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Congo, Gabon, Mauritius, Lebanon, Russia, Senegal, and Tunisia.
